What is this Idaho Girl Getting Herself Into?
Makes me think of when Tom and I were engage and I lived in Maryland and I would come to New York for the week-end. As I was crossing over the Hudson River on the George Washing Bridge I would look at the skyline of New York City and wonder was I was getting myself into.

One of the fun things that we do during the Summer is to attended the concerts in the park on Monday evenings.
I got a real kick out of this – they brought a chair for their dog.
On Saturday, July 17 I spent most of the day sewing on patches for some of the Boy Scouts that Tom is working with to get the uniforms ready for the Jamboree.
They left for the Jamboree last Saturday (July 24). Around 45,000 scouts and leaders will be down at Fort A.P. Hill for 10 days. I hope they have a great time.
I just returned from the Post Office. I did it – I have entered my first Hoffman Challenge. Anxious to see how things go.
I have been wanting to try this technique of fussing cutting the points – well now I have done it. What do you think?

Queen of the PROJECTS strikes again. Here is my Hoffman Challenge – it has to be sent by Thursday. Guess I had better get busy. I think I have alot of the kinks worked out. Of course – it has to do with hexagons for this Hexamaniac. More on this project later in the week. Now to just find some time to finish the project.
Hope is this not like all the other years where I have the Hoffman Challenge fabric and to this day I STILL have the Hoffman Challenge fabric.
I have had a few questions about how the coloring on the 3-D Mariner’s Compass was done.
For detailed insturctions see Irene Bluhm’s book – “Quilts of a Different Color”.
Prior to starting the quilting I played around with a draft of the quilting design that I was planning on using. By doing this I was able to determine the color placement. (The draft is approx. 10″ x 10″ – The Quilt is approx. 28″ x 28″).
While doing the quilting, I used tread to match the color that I was planning on coloring that section. This gives the design a good outline affect.
Ater quilting I blocked the quilt to remove the water sauable markings. Then I use colored pencils to color the design on the fabric. When the coloringis complete I will apply a mixture of different textile mediums (receipe in the book) to make the coloring permanent.
Not that hard, but alot of fun.
We had some RAIN, HOT weather and lots of fun. Here a few pictures. I was having such a GREAT time that I forgot to take many pictures.
Can’t wait until next year. I am going to continue to go to the gym so that at next year’s kickball game I will running the bases better. Watch out!
This past Saturday we went to Connecticut to get our Grandpa and Grandma fix. We took Baby Girl to her first movie – Toy Story 3. The movie was really good. We saw the 3-D version and that was really cool also. I am getting hooked on these 3-D movies.
Chris seems to be taking to fatherhood very well.

I have been working on completing this 3-D Mariner’s Compass.
I quilted some feathers around the border. I didn’t like all the white so I decided to get creative. Also, the above picture was taken while the quilting was drying after I blocked it. It is great how blocking a quilt can make is lay so much flatter.

Little over 1/2 coloring is completed. One person from my mini group did not think the mariner’s compass and quilting matched. What do you think? Trying to decide if I should submit this quilt to a few differnt quilt shows.
