I hope I live long enough to enjoy my new studio!

Yesterday I spent most of the day working on the stairway halls. Ever since we moved in (10 years in August) I have wanted to paint the stairway because I thought it would really make things look nicer. My pictures don’t just justice to the before state of this area. You can’t see all the cracks that I had to repair.

The the few pictures were taking during the process of repairing and painting.

The first coat is painted and left to dry. I will put on the second coat this morning. The second coat is always much faster. I also spent alot of time caulking all the gaps last nigth. It is amazing how the prep work makes the finished project look soooooo much nicer. I purchased a little quilt at the live auction. I think I am going to hang it in the stairway. I also painted my last rock wall (for awhile at least, there is one more section that needs to be painted – maybe in 10 years I will do it). This is hard work. Tom and I have been staying up late and working to get ready for the carpet. Last night I was exhausted. He told me to just relax, that I needed a break (and I did!).
Tom painted the perimeters of the floor. The carpet is going to be bound and just laid down. Since the wall is not exactly straight because of the zigs and zags of the rocks we wanted to have the floor painted on the edges so where you saw the cemet floor it would look nice.

Mom, everything is looking incredible! I am sooo excited for you guys. I am excited for me when I come to visit also. Your sewing students won’t recognize where they walked into when they come back.
